This beautiful bank is made from solid 3/4 inch Oak with a natural tung oil finish.
There is labor intensive work done on the finish. I achieve this finish through different sanding processes from 60 grit sanding to 600 grit sanding. I then steel wool the grain to achieve a super slick feel to the grain and sheen to the wood. Finish - Hand Rub with oil. Edges are rounded all around and the door is recessed into the front of the cabinet for a nice touch.
The construction of the boxes themselves is rabbit joint and glued.
They are antique in nature - U.S. Postal Service Door taken out of service and has a #3 Corban Grecian style combination key lock from 1959, lock #16637.
