This beautiful wood bank is made from solid Black Walnut wood. The wood grain is a rich up and down pattern.
There is labor intensive work done on the finish. I achieve this finish through different sanding processes from 60 grit sanding to 600 grit sanding. I then steel wool the grain to achieve a super slick feel to the grain and sheen to the wood. Finish - Hand Rub with oil and urethane. Edges are rounded.
The construction of the boxes themselves is rabbit joint and glued.
They are antique in nature - U.S. Postal Service Door taken out of service and has a Grecian Key Lock from 1980, #178 two keys - lock box # 385.
