This dark natural wood has an up and down grain pattern and is made from solid oak construction. This is a beautifully simple design.
There is labor intensive work done on the finish. I achieve this finish through different sanding processes from 60 grit sanding to 600 grit sanding. I then steel wool the grain to achieve a super slick feel to the grain and sheen to the wood. Finish - Hand Rub with oil and urethane. Edges are straight.
The construction of the boxes themselves is rabbit joint and glued.
They are antique in nature - U.S. Postal Service Door taken out of service and is roughly 40 - 50 years old. The door is a #1 Corban P85 key lock; combination F, N3 - lock box # 4439.
