Canary Wood U.S. Postal Bank
Dimensions -- 7 inches tall, 4 1/2 inches deep and 4 inches wide
This very rare, expensive wood from the South Pacific, I believe; has a beautiful natural yellowish tint. The gentle up and down grain pattern in the wood makes a very bold statement.
There is labor intensive work done on the finish. I achieve this finish through different sanding processes from 60 grit sanding to 600 grit sanding. I then steel wool the grain to achieve a super slick feel to the grain and sheen to the wood. Finish - Hand Rub with oil and urethane. Squared edging with a design cut into the back and sides of the box.
The construction of the boxes themselves is rabbit joint and glued.
They are antique in nature - U.S. Postal Service Door taken out of service and is roughly 40 - 50 years old. The door is a #1 Corban P85 key lock; combination G2, U3 - lock box # 4476.
