This beautiful wood bank is made from solid 3/4 thick Black Walnut wood. The wood grain has two grooved patterns. It has a false back to the bank so if the combination is lost, you can still get in. This feature can be fixed by gluing the back once you get comfortable with the combination.
There is labor intensive work done on the finish. I achieve this finish through different sanding processes from 60 grit sanding to 600 grit sanding. I then steel wool the grain to achieve a super slick feel to the grain and sheen to the wood. Finish - Hand Rub with oil and urethane. Edges are rounded.
The construction of the boxes themselves is rabbit joint and glued.
They are antique in nature - U.S. Postal Service Door taken out of service and has a Grecian Key Lock from 1959, -- this bank does not have a number plate on it.
